Fiber Optic Link

The Cross-Sound Cable has a New York to New England Fiber Optic Link. It is a 25 mile Ericsson fiber optic cable that connects Shoreham, NY to New Haven, CT. The Cable contains 192 Fibers which are divided as followed:

- 128 Single Mode dispersion, multi-use

- 64 multi-frequency, non-zero dispersions shifted (LEAF)

- 12 single modefibers reserved for Cross-Sound Cable Co.

There is dark fiber capacity available to provide Route diversity between New York City and New England. It also provides security as an alternative path for transatlantic cable owners and customers from/to Long Island circumventing New York City.
